Dr. M. Katherine Banks, vice chancellor and dean of engineering, has appointed Dr. Jorge Alvarado as the Charlotte and Walter Buchanan Faculty Fellow in Engineering Technology and Industrial Distribution. The faculty fellowship appointment was effective Oct. 1.
Alvarado is an associate professor in engineering technology and industrial distribution at Texas A&M University. He received his Ph.D. and master’s degree, both in mechanical engineering from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, and his bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from the University of Puerto Rico at Mayaguez.
Alvarado’s research interests include experimental and computational convective heat transfer, electronic cooling, energy management and conservation in buildings, renewable energy, alternative fuels, and mechanical and thermal analysis of amorphous metallic alloys.
