tailgate lamar 2The Department of Computer Science and Engineering hosted the first Tailgate Party of the year on Sept. 6 before the Texas A&M vs. Lamar football game. Over 150 people attended including staff, faculty, and current and former students of the department.

“This was my first tailgate event and I was very impressed by the enthusiasm and passion all-around campus,” said Dr. Dilma Da Silva, CSE department head. “I was particularly pleased with the opportunity to talk to so many of our former students, hear about their career paths and tell them about the activities we are pursuing in our department. For the upcoming Ole Miss CSE Tailgate Party, I want to meet as many former students and current members of our CSE community as I can."

The tailgate party was an exciting opportunity for all Aggies to see Phase I of the newly remodeled Kyle Field. Despite a weather delay, the Fightin Texas Aggies made it worth the wait by coming out on top with a final score of 73-3.

“I am excited with the efforts the CSE department is making to reconnect with its graduates and former students,” said Monty Mueller, external advisory council member. “It was wonderful getting to know Dr. Da Silva, to meet some faculty members I had not met before, and to meet some graduates and their families. Terrific barbecue. I cannot wait to go to the next tailgate on Oct. 11th before the Ole Miss game.”

CSE is hosting the next Tailgate Party Saturday, Oct. 11 before the Texas A&M vs. Ole Miss game in Spence Park. During this event, we will also be hosting Zachry Farewell Tours since the building will be closing in December for the big renovation and expansion into the Engineering Education Complex. This exciting project is to be completed in 2017.
