Dr. M. Katherine Banks, vice chancellor and dean of engineering, has appointed Dr. Yunlong Zhang the E.B. Snead ’25 Career Development Professor II in the Dwight Look College of Engineering. The endowed professorship is effective June 1.
Zhang is an associate professor and the assistant department head for graduate programs in the Zachry Department of Civil Engineering.
Zhang earned both his bachelor’s degree in civil engineering and his master’s degree in highway and traffic engineering from Southeast University of China. He received his Ph.D. in transportation engineering from Virginia Tech in 1996.
Zhang’s research interests include: traffic operations, transportation modeling and simulation, intelligent transportation systems, computer applications in transportation, and operations research applications in transportation.
