Image of the TomansTroy and Pamela Toman of San Antonio recently endowed the Pamela and Troy Toman '88 Scholarship in Computer Science and Engineering. Their scholarship is focused on assisting an incoming freshman student from Bexar County who is pursuing a degree in the Department of Computer Science and Engineering.

Troy Toman is the Cloud Architect at Rackspace Hosting and Pamela Toman is the executive director of SA Reads, a start-up nonprofit community literacy initiative for Bexar County. Troy is currently an active member of the Department of Computer Science and Engineering Advisory Council.

Troy Toman started his career as a software engineer at IBM. After eight years of holding multiple development and managerial positions at IBM, he moved on to senior leadership roles at Sun Microsystems, Inktomi Corporation, Kazeon and Veritas Software. In addition to his work on the Rackspace cloud, he is a member of the Board of Directors of the OpenStack Foundation and the Alamo Heights School Foundation.

Pamela Toman holds a bachelor's degree in History from the University of Texas at Austin and a master's degree in Latin American Studies from the University of California, Los Angeles. Prior to her non-profit work, she was a Director at Sun Microsystems in Palo Alto, California and spent time with Andersen Consulting in Buenos Aires, Argentina.

The couple have two children, a girl 11 and a boy 10.
