Image-of-Wattenbarger,-Robert-A.Dr. Robert Wattenbarger, a professor in the Harold Vance Department of Petroleum Engineering, passed away Friday, May 9, with loved ones by his side after a serious short illness. 

Bob had been a faculty member here in the department and at Texas A&M engineering since 1983 and had recently been appointed holder of the John E. & Deborah F. Bethancourt Professorship. His research interests included gas reservoir engineering emphasizing production, analysis of tight gas reservoirs, paraffin deposition in wellbores and reservoirs, electromagnetic heating of reservoirs, and well test analysis and well performance.  

Bob and his wife, Julie, were patrons of the Brazos Valley Chorale. He was also a member of a barbershop quartet and helped them perform the National Anthem prior to the opening of a Texas A&M vs. Kentucky baseball game in April of this year.

A Memorial Service for Bob will be held at First Presbyterian Church of Bryan, at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, May 17. (1100 Carter Creek Pkwy, Bryan, TX, 77802). A brief reception will be held at the church following the service.
