Dr. M. Katherine Banks, vice chancellor and dean of engineering, has appointed Dr. Hamn-Ching (H.C) Chen holder of the A.P. & Florence Wiley Professorship I in the Dwight Look College of Engineering. The endowed professorship is effective June 1.
Chen is a professor in the Zachry Department of Civil Engineering and the ocean engineering program at Texas A&M University. He received his Ph.D. from the University of Iowa in 1982.
Chen’s research interests include: computational fluid dynamics; turbulence modeling; nonlinear wave-current-body interactions; violent free surface flows; ship motion and multiple-ship interactions; vortex-induced vibration of deepwater risers; and greenwater and hurricane wave loads on offshore structures education.
