Helen and Dennis Sander of Houston recently endowed the Helen and Dennis Sander ’62 Scholarship in Civil Engineering. The Sanders have supported Texas A&M University’s athletic and academic programs for more than 35 years.
Their scholarship is focused on assisting in-state undergraduate students who are active members of the Corp of Cadets.
“Dennis and Helen’s gift will provide important support for undergraduate students at Texas A&M,” said Dr. Robin Autenrieth, interim department head of the Zachry Department of Civil Engineering. “Their scholarship will truly make an impact on many Aggies pursuing their degree in civil engineering.”
Dennis is a two-time past president and current member of the board of directors for the American Council of Engineering Companies (Houston), a board member of the Harris-Galveston Subsidence District as well as a past board member of the Houston Regional Mobility Association. He also is a 2012 recipient of the Zachry Department of Civil Engineering’s Distinguished Graduate Award.
Dennis received his bachelor’s degree in civil engineering and business administration in 1962. He and Helen have two children, Kelly and John.
