To be eligible a nominee must be a member of IIE; the course for which he/she is being recognized must be an undergraduate operations research course within an industrial engineering program; and the candidate must have developed the course materials. The nomination can be made by a colleague or a student who has taken the course from the nominee.

Department head, Cesar Malave, said he was not surprised by Moreno's recognition. "Erick is a very dedicated mentor to his students and approaches his classes with infectious enthusiasm."
