Erchin SerpedinDr. Erchin Serpedin, professor in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at Texas A&M University, will become the new editor-in-chief of the journal EURASIP Journal on Bioinformatics and Systems Biology.

EURASIP Journal on Bioinformatics and Systems Biology is an open access journal published by Springer in cooperation with the European Association for Signal Processing (EURASIP).

The main scope of the journal is to publish original results related to signal processing and computational statistics techniques and algorithms with applications in bioinformatics, computational biology, genomics, proteomics and systems biology. Serpedin will begin his tenure on March 1st.

Serpedin has been faculty member in the department since 1999, and it is currently an IEEE Fellow. He is the author of three books, nine book chapters and more than 100 journal papers and 170 conference papers.

In the past he has served multiple terms as associate editor for numerous journals including IEEE Transactions on Information Theory, IEEE Transactions on Signal Processing, IEEE Transactions on Communications, IEEE Transactions on Wireless Communications, IEEE Signal Processing Letters, IEEE Communications Letters, Signal Processing (Elsevier), EURASIP Journal on Applied Signal Processing, Physical Communications (Elsevier), EURASIP Journal on Advances in Signal Processing (Springer) and EURASIP Journal on Bioinformatics and Systems Biology.

He has also served as technical chair for five major international workshops/conferences. His research interests include applications of signal processing and computational statistics techniques in bioinformatics, systems biology and wireless communications.
