Mechatronics Engineering Track

STEM Education Track

The demand for qualified STEM teachers is more critical than ever, as these educators play a pivotal role in shaping the next generation's skills and mindset. With technology advancing rapidly, the need for educators who are well-versed in STEM subjects is evident.
The MXET STEM Education track involves a Bachelor's Degree in Engineering Technology and Teacher Certifications in Engineering, Math, and Physical Sciences. The track is offered by the Department of Engineering Technology and Industrial Distribution in collaboration with the College of Education and Human Development. This fruitful collaboration between engineering and education bridges the critical STEM educator preparation gap.
Our graduates are well prepared to be multidisciplinary engineering technology engineers with outstanding, hands-on skills in prototyping and testing mechatronics systems. In addition, our graduates will be certified secondary education teachers in engineering, mathematics, and physical sciences. They are ready to inspire K-12 students to become future scientists and engineers.

Master of Science in Engineering Technology

The Master of Science in Engineering Technology (MSET) is a resident program in the Department of Engineering Technology and Industrial Distribution (ETID) with a 30-credit-hour curriculum offering thesis and non-thesis degree options. The degree provides advanced application‐oriented education in engineering that addresses a need for a workforce with advanced technical talent.
Our MSET program focuses on critical technologies in the fields of manufacturing and mechanical engineering, electronic systems and mechatronics. The program is suitable for students with backgrounds in STEM-related fields, including those pursuing the Mechatronics and STEM Education Tracks.

The MSET Fast Track 4+1 Option is available for MXET, MMET, and ESET students. If you are approved for the fast track option, you can take up to nine credit hours of graduate coursework while pursuing your undergraduate degree, shortening your time to attaining the Master of Science in Engineering Technology degree.
