Industry professionals interested in participating in the Texas A&M University Department of Computer Science and Engineering’s industry capstone program should review the below recommended timeline of a typical capstone program. 

The program is broken down into four stages by month for either the fall or spring semester. These four stages are: initiation, introduction, implementation and transition. 

Capstone Program Stages

Initiation

The initiation stage includes rolling submission of a project request.

During the first week of March or October:

  • Evaluation of project request.

During the first week of April or November:

  • Notification of acceptance.

Introduction

The introduction stage in June or December includes:

  • Remittance of the company gift, procurement of materials.

The introduction stage in the first week of September or February includes:

  • Project launch.
  • Industry and faculty mentors meet the student teams.

Implementation

The implementation stage, from September to November or February to April, includes:

  • Students perform project work, meeting weekly with industry mentors.

Transition

The transition stage from November or April includes:
  • Final presentation and live project demonstration.
  • Quality checks by the sponsor.
The transition stage the second week of December or May includes:
  • The transition of results to the sponsor.
