The Cybersecurity Minor provides a basic understanding of programming and a firmly grounded understanding of cybersecurity, including cyber ethics. Students can specialize in the area of cybersecurity that is most closely aligned with their interests and degree plans. The Department of Computer Science and Engineering administers the minor. Eligible students must submit an application to be considered for and allowed to pursue a minor in cybersecurity.
Students must be in a degree-granting major to apply for the cybersecurity minor. (General Engineering students are not eligible as they are not yet in a degree-granting major.) Also, students must have completed at least 1 semester at Texas A&M University and have at least a 2.75 TAMU GPA. All majors are welcome to apply. For students outside the Department of Computer Science and Engineering, we are currently only able to consider admitting students who have completed all requirements for the minor (or have them in progress) according to the university catalog.
Cybersecurity minor applications will be open from April 27, 2026 through May 17, 2026.
