In conjunction with Mays Business School, the Department of Biomedical Engineering offers a Master of Engineering in Biomedical Engineering and Master of Business Administration (M.Eng./MBA) dual degree program that allows students to complete both degrees in approximately 2.5 years. This program prepares students for leadership roles in many areas of biomedical engineering and business with specific MBA training in leadership, management, human resources, teambuilding, communications, marketing, finance, accounting, strategy and technology. The goal of the M.Eng./MBA degree program is to produce leaders in biomedical engineering and business. The Mays MBA Program website, (https://mays.tamu.edu/full-time-mba) contains more detailed information on the MBA program and curriculum.

Student Application Process:

  1. Submit an application to the M.Eng./MBA Cooperative program through EngineeringCAS.
  2. Submit an application to the MBA program (at http://mays.tamu.edu/full-time-mba/application-process).
    • PRIOR to submitting your application, you must meet with the MBA contact to discuss plans and deadlines.  The current contact is listed below.
  3. A complete application package will consist of the below documents, all of which should be submitted through the M.Eng./MBA Cooperative program EngineeringCAS application.

  4. Follow all application deadlines for both the M.Eng. and MBA programs.
  5. If accepted, the applicant will be notified by both the Mays Business School and the Department of Biomedical Engineering regarding the admissions decision. This program is extremely competitive and only a small number of students are admitted each year.

Program Timeline:

Students applying to the M.Eng./MBA program will first begin with the MBA portion of the program. This eighteen-month degree program is condensed into twelve months specifically for dual degree students. Following completion of the MBA program, students will transition directly into the M.Eng. program via Letter of Intent. The M.Eng BMEN program can typically be completed in 1.5 years, but is flexible depending on previous degrees, biomedical engineering background, and the length of the mandatory internship.

As a student approaches the end of their MBA program, they should reach out to the BME Graduate Academic Advisor listed below to discuss the transition plan from MBA to M.Eng. BMEN.

Scholarships:

All incoming MBA students, including M.Eng./MBA students are automatically considered for scholarship support during the MBA portion of the program. No additional scholarship application is required. While no fellowships are available to M.Eng. BMEN students through this program, funding availability in biomedical engineering may be available through TA and grader positions.
