Educational Background

  • Ph.D., Mechanical Engineering and Applied Mechanics, University of Pennsylvania – 2014

Research Interests

  • Research areas: Cardiovascular biomechanics, computational modeling, cardiac imaging, machine learning

Dr. Reza Avaz is the director of the Computational Cardiovascular Bioengineering Laboratory. His postdoctoral research training focused on cardiac biomechanics. Avaz’s primary research interests are in developing and implementing multiphysics computational-experimental models of the cardiovascular system under normal, pathological and therapeutic conditions for understanding the underlying remodeling mechanisms and the patient-specific design of regenerative therapies.
