• Adjunct Professor, Civil & Environmental Engineering
  • Member, National Academy of Engineering
Christine Shoemaker

Educational Background

  • Ph.D., University of Southern California

Research Interests

    • Creation of general-purpose Dynamic Control or Global Optimization algorithms (some with surrogates).
    • Apply algorithms to efficiently parameterize computationally expensive simulation models, including applications in water resources, water quality, surface and groundwater hydrology, carbon sequestration, and climate (“earth systems”) models.
    • Shoemaker and her group have created and published general purpose efficient special algorithms that utilize surrogates, global optimization and/or parallel processing.
    • Codes for recent global optimization algorithms are posted online for download at no cost. Prof Shoemaker can help decide which codes are appropriate for each application.
