Plants and Paving Segment - The Engineering Intern is assigned to a plant location for a 10-12 week, full-time, summer program. Each intern will be provided a Mentor who will assign daily activities and assist with training. Engineering Interns will be given a list of goals to complete throughout the summer and summarize their experience with a final Presentation.

Responsibilities may include:

Observe the asphalt production to include daily reports and inspections; learn how to write RFI's and track quantities; assist with estimating and quality control; haul analysis and forecasting; night shift experience; working with the paving/milling/and traffic control crew onsite; assist the safety manager with weekly audits, investigations, and toolbox talks; office and field administrative duties

Projects Segment

Become familiar with reading plan drawings; assist the safety manager with weekly audits, investigations, and toolbox talks; learn how to write RFI's and track quantities; interaction with project foreman and superintendent; working with the crew onsite; assist with quantity takeoffs and estimating; exposure to safety, survey and quality control tasks as required; may work with HCSS heavy bid software, Bluebeam, & Primavera job scheduling software

Position Requirements

-Currently pursuing a B.S or M.S. degree in Civil Engineering or Construction Management-Excellent written & verbal communication skills-Desires a career in heavy civil construction management
-Is willing to relocate to project locations as required
-Must be able to legally work in the United States on a permanent basis

L.A. Fuess Partners | Engineering Intern | Paid, Full-Time

Internship on a structural engineering team at our Dallas office. Duties could include anything from construction administration or design tasks - all under the direct supervision of a registered professional engineer.

Position Requirements

-Junior or senior with completion of upper level steel and concrete design courses, or
-Structural engineering masters student -BIM (Revit) experience is a plus

Atkins | Summer Intern | Paid, Full-Time

Position Description

Atkins’s summer internship program in Transportation Engineering offers students the opportunity to gain valuable training, hands-on experience, and mentorship in one of the following transportation/water resources engineering fields: planning, roadway design, traffic, drainage, and/or construction. Interns can expect to perform actual engineering work on real projects, learn from senior staff, and be exposed to many different areas of engineering. In addition to technical training, interns are introduced to the Atkins business model, culture, history and service lines. Interns are encouraged to develop relationships on an individual, team, and company level. The program is also designed to facilitate intern involvement in team and company activities.

Internships typically last ten weeks, begin in early June and end mid-August. An opportunity for a co-op past the internship period may also be available pending transportation group need and intern performance.

Intern responsibilities may consist of but are not limited to the following:
-Perform a variety of technical tasks to assist engineers,
-Establish and maintain records or files of technical data or documents,
-Perform mathematical calculations,
-Perform various drafting and CADD assignments,
-Assist in the preparation of graphic displays and presentation materials,
-Perform other such duties as the intern’s Supervisor may deem necessary.
