Eligibility
The eligibility requirements for the Texas A&M Grand Challenges Scholar Program (GCSP) include:
- Freshmen or sophomore engineering major
- 3.0+ GPA
- A passion for solving the Grand Challenges

Application Requirements
- Basic demographic information
- Resume
- An essay describing the applicant's interest in the GCSP and future career goals, and how participation in the GCSP would benefit these goals. The essay should convey commitment to engineering, the Grand Challenges and awareness of social and/or global consciousness. The essay should also describe the applicant's plan to complete all the GCSP components, including any past relevant experiences. Essays should be two to three pages long, single-spaced with 11 or 12 point font and 1 inch margins.
- At least one letter of reference
Application Timeline
Applications for the Texas A&M GCSP are due according to the timeline below, decisions will be announced within 2 weeks of the application deadline to allow Grand Challenge Scholars to begin the program by the fall of their sophomore year.
- Application Opens: April 15
- Application Deadline: July 1
