EH Executive Committee

The purpose of the EH-ExCom shall be to:

  • To serve as the representative body of the Engineering Honors (EH) program or liaison to any external forums and to the EH Director
  • To recommend how to best represent the EH program to the outside community
  • To increase the visibility, involvement, service, and overall sense of community among honors students
  • To work with the EH Director to define goals and to execute them to completion by the end of each academic year
  • To provide programming recommendations for all honors students and to ultimately build student leaders, preparing them for work in industry or for graduate studies

Why I want to be an engineer: Growing up, I enjoyed math and science. Engineering allows me to apply my knowledge to improve existing processes for society. Particularly, I am interested in utilizing chemical engineering in the food and beverage industry to create safer and healthier products for society.

Favorite aspect of Engineering Honors: I love the community created through Engineering Honors. Coming into a large university, Engineering Honors provides an avenue to connect with a smaller niche of engineers who enjoy challenges and exploring deeper into the class material. I, particularly, enjoy the Engineering Honors Seminars. Through the seminars, I have learned about study abroad, business, and research opportunities.

Why I want to be an engineer: It was in high school that I became aware of Computer Science. I was inspired by my teacher to pursue a degree in Computer Science. 

Favorite aspect of Engineering Honors: The most captivating aspect of Engineering Honors is the sense of community and fellowship built by attending classes together, especially underclassmen level, and regularly meeting at events. Being able to recognize and talk to familiar faces helps when classes get rough.

Why I want to be an engineer: I like designing and building things, and seeing how machines work. I've also been good at math and physics, so engineering seems like a great fit.

Favorite aspect of Engineering Honors: My favorite thing about Enginering Honors is the honors classes. Especially in ENGR 111 and 112 we had much smaller classes, more focused classes, and all our teammates were honors students too.
