The Harold Vance Department of Petroleum Engineering requires all of its students to work in an industry-related position for at least one summer before graduation. These summer positions give students opportunities to learn more about their profession and to finance a good portion of their college expenses.

The department provides assistance in securing these jobs by posting resumes of students seeking internships online and encouraging companies to visit these resume pages. Internship pay usually ranges from $1000-$5000 per month, depending on the kind and location of employment.

Part-time employment is also available on and off campus. The Student Financial Aid Office provides information about part-time employment.
