Nepal appointed Furber Faculty Fellow

Photo of Dr. Bimal NepalDr. M. Katherine Banks, vice chancellor and dean of engineering, has appointed Dr. Bimal Nepal the Corrie and Jim Furber '64 Faculty Fellow.

Nepal is an assistant professor in the Industrial Distribution Program in the Department of Engineering Technology and Industrial Distribution.

Nepal earned a bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering from the Malaviya National Institute of Technology in Jaipur, India; a master's degree in industrial engineering from the Asian Institute of Technology in Bangkok, Thailand; and a Ph.D. in industrial engineering from Wayne State University.

Nepal joined the Texas A&M engineering faculty in 2009. He was previously and assistant professor at Indiana University-Purdue University in Fort Wayne, Ind., an industrial engineer for Thai Eastern Industries in Bangkok, a mechanical engineer for the Ministry of Water Resources in Nepal, and a mechanical engineer for Nepal Hydro and Electric. 

His areas of interest include new product development, supply chain configurations, distribution management, strategic sourcing, risk analysis, multiple criteria decision modeling, optimization, quality and applied statistics, reliability analysis, and fuzzy theory.
