Research Interests

  • Dynamic system, control theory, mechatronics and their applications on oil & gas, automotive and renewable energy systems. Unconventional oil & gas exploration and production system enabled by advanced controls and automation. Drilling automation and hydraulic fracking optimal control. Energy efficient and clean automotive powertrain, including camless engine, hybrid electric/hydraulic vehicle and game-changing power transmission technologies. Efficient renewable fuel and mixed fuel capable powertrain and energy conversion systems. Mechatronic system design, fabrication and prototyping. Fluid power and hydraulic system design and control. Robust tracking control and disturbance rejection, nonlinear and time-varying system control, LPV system stabilization, iterative learning control, time-varying internal model system and their real time experimental investigation.
