UK Thermodynamics I

This program will provide students with an in-depth study abroad experience in Aberdeen, Scotland, the “Energy Capital of Europe.” In the classroom, students will learn about thermodynamics in the homeland of key historical figures in thermodynamics, such as Maxwell, Watt, Rankine, and Stirling. Outside the classroom, students will visit sites related to the thermodynamics, as well as experience the broader culture and history of Scotland.

Aberdeen, Scotland

Participants will spend three weeks at the University of Aberdeen, one of the two prestigious universities in Aberdeen, making it the educational center for northeast Scotland. Aberdeen is a coastal city just three hours by train from Edinburgh. Students will take formal field trips to technical, historic, and cultural sites around Aberdeen and Scotland. In addition, on their own time, students can explore Aberdeen and its historical buildings, festivals, and museums.

              • Attendance at ALL program-specific orientations

The College of Engineering is offering scholarship for selected student who has a 2.5 or higher GPA at time of application. There is no need to apply for the engineering scholarship, it is automatic if students meet all of the requirements listed below:

  • Have a 2.5 or higher GPA at time of application
  • Satisfy the course requirements for admission
  • Be admitted and confirmed by Feb. 15, 2018
