Qatar- Spring 2018

This program is very competitive and offers sophomores, juniors and seniors an experience to live and study in Doha. If eligible, students are allowed to take Arabic classes from Georgetown University (spring and fall semesters only). Students will live in dorms with students from various parts of the world. This gives students an opportunity to learn about different nationalities.

Location Information

Doha, Qatar

Doha, which means the big tree, is the capital and most populous city of the State of Qatar. The city is located on the coast of the Persian Gulf in the east of the country. 50% of the national population lives either in Doha or suburbs around it. Hence, it is also the economic center of the country. Texas A&M University at Qatar is located in Education City, Al Rayyan. There are several landmarks and historic sites to visit in this area.

Eligibility & Requirements

  • Undergraduate student status. Good standing with the university
  • GPR of 2.75 or higher
  • Sophomore, Junior or Senior classification
Foreign Language Requirement

None! All courses are taught in English by Texas A&M University-Qatar faculty.


Funding Opportunities

A selection committee will review student applications and select students they feel are qualified to participate in the program. The College of Engineering will cover - housing, airfare and insurance for most students selected for the program.

The Study Abroad Office offers the following scholarships:

  • Student Academic Fund (SAF) Scholarship (need-based)
  • International Education Fund Scholarship (IEFS) (merit-based)
