The Belgium Environmental Science & Engineering program is held at Katholieke Univeristy of Leuven, which is located approximately 30 km east of Brussells in the city of Leuven. K.U. Leuven was established in 1425 and it is now a modern, world-class university with excellent facilities. Leuven is a student-oriented city with a cosmopolitan atmosphere and many cafes and restaurants. The city is compact and very conducive to travel by foot or bicycle. All students will be provided a bicycle for transportation to class and around town.

Eligibility Requirements

  • Rising junior, junior, or senior classification 
  • Approval of faculty leader
  • BAEN students: Fluid mechanics
  • Non-engineering students: MATH 141 & 142 or MATH 151 & 152
  • Attend all program orientations the semester prior to departure 

Scholarship & Financial Aid


The Study Abroad Programs Office offers scholarships based on merit and financial need. Applications are available through Scholarships & Financial Aid and deadlines are listed on the website below. The Continuing Student Scholarship application opens Nov. 1, 2017 and closes at 11:59 p.m. Feb. 1, 2018. To apply, please visit:


The college of engineering offers a scholarship (details to be announced) for every student who has a 2.5 or higher GPA at time of application. There is no need to apply for the engineering scholarship, it is automatic if students meet all of the requirements listed below:

  • Have a 2.5 or higher GPA at time of application
  • Satisfy the course requirements for admission
  • Be admitted and confirmed by Feb. 15, 2018
  • Required to attend all Study Abroad Programs Office (SAPO) and College of Engineering pre-trip orientations
  • Submit requested documents by deadlines

Financial Aid
