Become a Peer Mentor

Engineering Village Peer Mentors are fun, creative, encouraging, and committed students who help ease the transition into life as an engineering student by inspiring academic and personal success through one-on-one and group activities.

Why become a Peer Mentor?

  • Develop and strengthen your communication, facilitation and leadership skills
  • Receive guaranteed on-campus housing
  • Become the reason a freshman chooses to continue pursuing a degree in engineering at Texas A&M University

Peer Mentor Responsibilities

  • Live in assigned residence hall during 2018-19 academic year (will be in the Commons or a Modular hall on the south side of campus)
  • Attend all Peer Mentor training sessions and events
  • Return to campus during early move-in (tentatively scheduled for Thursday, August 16, 2018)
  • Assist with move-in day
  • Set a positive example for residents by demonstrating good personal, academic and social behavior
  • Plan, promote, and attend events for Engineering Village residents
  • Maintain an open line of communication with Engineering Village residents

Am I eligible?

An Enigneering Village Peer Mentor must meet the following minimum qualifications:

  • Be a student in the Texas A&M University College of Engineering
  • Have and maintain a 2.5 or higher GPA
  • Demonstrate the ability to make sound decisions
  • Lived on campus at some point during college experience (preferred)
