The Zachry Department of Civil Engineering in the College at Texas A&M was established in 1887. With nine specialty areas and two degree programs, the department has a tradition of excellence with remarkable faculty and highly recruited graduates. The program has 725 undergraduate students and more than 380 graduate students and is ranked eighth in both undergraduate and graduate programs among public institutions, according to U.S. News & World Report.
The mission of the department is to prepare graduates to become professional engineers and leaders in the civil engineering industry by providing them with a top-tier education. The department aims to introduce fundamental scientific engineering principles while using the latest technology to solve real-world problems.
