Follow these principles for designing a document that is visually appealing and allows for quick access of important information.
- Use headings to set off the main parts and subsections of your report.
- Use subheadings or other typography to set off key ideas (information that is priority, i.e., what you don't want your reader to miss).
- Check for heading and subheading typographical consistency. Using the styles set in the template (or creating your own) will help maintain consistency throughout the report.
- Indent paragraphs.
- Space between paragraphs.
- Use a serif font for the report: Times, Times New Roman, Palatino, or Cambria. (The template uses Times.)
