About Texas State Employee Charitable Campaign

The Texas State Employee Charitable Campaign (SECC) was created through legislation in 1993. The purpose is to raise funds for charitable organizations throughout the state, the nation and the world. Texas state employees have contributed $176 million to the campaign since its start. The campaign is held from Sept. 1 to Oct. 31 each year.

Charities

You can choose from nearly 400 participating charities. Select from local, statewide, national or international charities. The Texas A&M University System employees can view organizations by logging in to Single Sign On (SSO). You can also visit the SECC giving guide to see a list of charities and information about what your contribution will provide.

All participating organizations must meet strict eligibility standards established by state law, and they are screened by the SECC State Policy Committee. You can feel confident that your gift is being used efficiently and effectively by your designated charity or charities.

The SECC supports many local charities, including the Aggieland Humane Society, the Brazos Valley Food Bank, United Way of the Brazos Valley, Hospice Brazos Valley, The Arts Council of Brazos Valley, Scotty’s House and Twin City Mission.

How to Give

Three easy ways to support the SECC:

  • Online - Set up a payroll deduction through Single Sign On (SSO) in WorkDay:
    • One-time or monthly payroll deductions (over nine or 12 months, based on employee status, with a $2 per charity, per month minimum)
    • One-time donations to be deducted in January
    • Monthly employees – Deductions start in December and are reflected on the January paycheck.
    • Biweekly employees – Deductions start in January, and are reflected on the second paycheck in January.
    • Deductions can be stopped upon request by contacting your payroll office.
  • Form - Paper authorization form:
    • Checks should be made payable to the SECC. Attach the check or cash to the form with a paperclip. Do not staple.
  • Fundraiser - Participate in local unit and area fundraisers:
    • Each unit may hold fundraisers from Sept. 1 to Oct. 31. The purpose of these fundraisers is to foster the SECC/Texas A&M University spirit of giving and encourage ongoing donations throughout the campaign.
    • Many campus events are posted on the Texas A&M SECC Facebook page.
