Giving Tuesday was created as a simple idea: a day that encourages people to do good. This idea has since grown into a global movement that inspires hundreds of millions of people to give back. We wanted to share with you how your participation in Giving Tuesday could impact the future of our department.

This year, the Department of Aerospace Engineering has gained more space in the Harvey R. "Bum" Bright Building. This is a wonderful opportunity to accommodate our growing department but also a challenge as we need to retrofit and renovate the spaces we inherited. Therefore, we are choosing to highlight the importance of upgrading the student computer labs to enhance their ability to prepare for the future and gain the knowledge they need to be successful. The video below shows the current state of our lab spaces and transitions into what we envision for the future.

As the new Department Head, I would like to focus on giving students the best chance to succeed in their professions by providing them with the best labs and working spaces to learn from and to work at. I would like the years students spend in the aerospace engineering department to become some of the most memorable in their lives.

For Giving Tuesday the Department of Aerospace Engineering has a special opportunity. Two of our generous donors have pledged to match dollar for dollar up to $15,000 benefitting the department's Excellence Fund. This means that even a gift as small as $25 will not only be matched by our donors, but will have a lasting impact on the department.

This year Giving Tuesday is taking place on Tuesday, Nov. 30. Any gift given to the Aerospace Engineering Excellence Fund between now and then will have an immediate impact on our students and would be sincerely appreciated.

I want to make an impact!
