The Texas A&M University College of Engineering has changed its admission policy. In the past, the college admitted freshmen to a specific major. With the new policy, freshmen applicants selected for admission will be admitted to the College of Engineering (ENGE) with a preference for the major noted on their application.

Admitted students will be advised by the college, and will follow the degree plan for their preferred major. These changes offer admitted students the freedom to learn about the different engineering majors to better equip them to make informed decisions concerning which engineering discipline is the best fit for their career goals. Students apply to a major(s) after completing specific coursework. Acceptance to a major is competitive.
