What is the overall goal of your project?
We will develop a new kind of interfacial solar thermal membrane with potential desalination application which uses solar energy as a heat source to vaporize seawater.

Which grand challenge are you addressing?
Nowadays 2.6 billion people live in areas with threats to clean water security. 70% area of our globe is surrounded with sea water while more than one-third of the world population is suffering from clean water shortage.

What is the key challenge your project is trying to solve?
Solar energy needs to be efficiently utilized to work on the surface functionalized membrane to achieve desalinated water.

What is the impact on society your project has?
A facile and convenient fabrication approach is developed to make a portable size desalination membrane for efficient solar-driven interfacial water evaporation. It would give new direction for achieving clean water from the sea.
