Distinguished Graduates

The Academy of Distinguished Graduates of the Harold Vance Department of Petroleum Engineering was developed by the Industry Board as a means to recognize and acknowledge the Department's most distinguished former students.

To qualify for Academy membership, a former student must hold a BS, MS, or PhD degree in petroleum engineering from Texas A&M University, have graduated at least 15 years before induction, and have made some notable contribution to the petroleum engineering profession or to the petroleum industry.

Nominations may be made by members of the Industry Board, the faculty, or former students, and the inductees are selected by the Industry Board based on the professional accomplishments and cumulative impact the nominee has made on the petroleum industry. Induction ceremonies take place annually at the Fall Industry Board dinner.

Former students of the Department who had been recognized by the College of Engineering prior to 1998 as Outstanding Honor Alumni have been "grandfathered" into the Petroleum Engineering Academy.

Academy membership is normally limited to 1.5% of the former students of the Department.
