Account Activation

PETE Certificate/Continuing (CE) Education Students only:

Getting Started

1. You will be issued a UIN AFTER:

    • You are accepted into the PETE CE Program and
    • You have registered for one course the first semester you are in the program.

2. After you receive a UIN, please do the following:

    • Open a web browser (e.g., Mozilla Firefox or Microsoft Internet Explorer) and go to
    • Click the Claim NetID link.
    • Enter your UIN and select birthdate.
    • Click the Login button
    • On the next screen, enter chosen NetID and click the Submit the button.
    • Finally, create a password. Enter it again to confirm your password, then click Submit.
    • Please contact the HelpDesk Central at or 979.845.8300 if you have any problems activating your account. The HelpDesk is available 24/7.
    • Once you have activated your account, you will be able to access your Google Apps account/mailbox.
    • Go to and click on the desired resource link.

3. PETE CE students please note that if you have been enrolled as a regular student in Texas A&M University within the past several years, your NetID account may still exist; however, you may need to reset your password. To reset your password, go to and click the tab "Password Settings."

4. All official university email is sent to your TAMU email account at and is accessed using your NetID.

    • Check your email frequently.

5. Set up your PETE account

    • You are required to have a Petroleum Engineering account to be able to access course resources on the departmental server as required by the instructor.
    • Download, fill out and return this form per the instructions on the form.
