Hurtado elected AIAA Associate Fellow

Dr. John Hurtado, associate professor in the Department of Aerospace Engineering, has been elected to Associate Fellow of the American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics (AIAA).Dr. John Hurtado

He is being recognized for his accomplishments and contributions in the field of aeronautics and astronautics. He will be honored at a dinner in January 2009 at the 47th AIAA Aerospace Sciences Meeting and Exhibit in Orlando, Fla.

Hurtado began teaching at Texas A&M University seven years ago. His studies have led to better understanding of dynamic principles in three dimensions, theoretical mechanics, structural dynamics and celestial mechanics.

Hurtado has authored numerous publications and holds three patents. He is a member of AIAA and the American Astronautical Society.

Hurtado received his bachelor’s degree in aerospace engineering from San Diego State University. He earned his master’s degree and Ph.D. from Texas A&M.
