Whitney Souery, an undergraduate student in the Department of Biomedical Engineering at Texas A&M University, has been selected for a fellowship at the University of Michigan’s Frankel Cardiovascular Center (FCVC).
The fellowship offers an opportunity to experience cardiovascular research in one of the nation’s leading cardiovascular centers. In addition, it offers students the invaluable opportunity to expand their skill set with real-world experiences.
Souery began her career at Texas A&M as a freshman in August 2016 and has been conducting research in Dr. Corey Bishop’s Pharmacoengineering Laboratory since the Fall of 2016. Her passion for biomedical engineering stems from her interests in medicine, global health outreach, engineering and research. Because the fellowship fell along the same lines as her interests, Souery felt compelled to apply.
“It amazes me to think that the work I’ll be doing has the potential to impact someone’s life, and I am so honored for this opportunity,” said Souery.
The FCVC summer fellowship matches students to a faculty-led laboratory based off of their interests. Students will work 40-hour weeks during the 10-week fellowship.
