The Texas A&M Engineering Experiment Station’s Turbomachinery Laboratory’s first Asia Turbomachinery and Pump Symposium (ATPS) was recently featured in an article in International Turbomachinery.

The article highlights the success of the symposium, while outlining the challenges the ATPS faced, namely, that most in the oil and gas industry are cutting back because the price of oil sits at one of its lowest prices in decades.

The event was held Feb. 22-26 at the Marina Bay Sands. Dr. Luis San Andrés, Mast-Childs Professor at Texas A&M University and associate director of the Turbo Lab, is featured in the article talking about the value that the Turbo Lab can bring to Singapore.

With the success of the inaugural ATPS, there are discussions for a stand-alone technical program in Singapore next year, and planning is already underway for the next ATPS in 2018.
