Dr. Daniel F. Jennings, the Andrew Rader Professor of Industrial Distribution at Texas A&M University, received the 2015 Runner-Up Award for the 2015 Best Case from the Southwest Case Research Association at its annual meeting in Oklahoma City.
The Southwest Case Association is a division of the Federation of Business Disciplines.
Jennings is the founding director of the Department of Engineering Technology and Industrial Distribution’s Master of Industrial Distribution (MID) program and joined the Dwight Look College of Engineering in 1997 as a professor. He was previously the Mays Professor of Entrepreneurship and Strategic Management at Baylor University.
The runner-up case, EXI Corporation, is the disguised name of a successful company that rents and operates a variety of test equipment to large companies during scheduled maintenance outages. These companies include large manufacturing firms, power plants, utilities and different process industry firms. The case involves the ethical behavior exhibited by the two owners of EXI during an attempted take-over by one of the owners. MID graduates Lane Batson and Aaron Schrems participated as co-authors.
A registered professional engineer in Texas, Jennings holds a bachelor’s degree in industrial engineering, with honors, from the University of Tennessee, an MBA from Northeast Louisiana University and a Ph.D. from Texas A&M.
Jennings research interests are in the areas of strategic alliances, achieving a competitive advantage, strategy-structure alignments, and top management ethical behavior His industrial experience includes engineering and managerial positions in forest products and chemical firms located in the United States, Canada and South America.
