Payman Dehghanian, Ph.D. student in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at Texas A&M University, received the 2015 Aggies Commit Fellowship from the Texas A&M Graduate and Professional Student Council.
Of the 10 recipients of the award, Dehghanian was the only engineering student selected.
The fellowship aims to support the high impact learning experiences of graduate and professional students who go beyond required degree program activities and to further graduate and professional education.
Dehghanian received his bachelor's degree from the University of Tehran in 2009 and his master's degree from Sharif University of Technology in 2011, both in electrical engineering. His research interests include power system protection and control, power system reliability, asset management, maintenance scheduling, renewable integration and smart-grid applications.
Recent honors he has received include being selected as one of the Top 20 Young Scholars for Next Generation of Researchers in Power Systems, a Research Grant Scholarship Award from the Golden Key International Honor Society and a Love of Learning Award from the Phi Kappa Phi Honor Society.
The Aggies Commit to Graduate and Professional Student Educational Experiences Fellowship is administered by the Graduate and Professional Student Council and Office of Graduate and Professional Studies, and is sponsored by the Office of the Provost and Executive Vice President.
