Dr. Raymundo Arróyave, associate professor in the Department of Materials Science and Engineering, has been appointed as associate editor of the Journal of Phase Equilibria and Diffusion. Arróyave begins his new role in the fall.
“As the emphasis on accelerated development of materials has increased, so has the importance of understanding the thermodynamics and kinetics of materials,” said Arróyave. “The Journal of Phase Equilibria and Diffusion (JPED), by its very nature, fulfills a very important mission within this grand challenge.”
Arróyave currently serves as vice-chair of ASM International (previously American Society for Metals)’s Alloy Phase Diagram Committee, which oversees the editorial direction of JPED, among other activities related to the dissemination of knowledge on the thermodynamics and kinetics of materials
The journal is critically reviewed and contains basic and applied research results, a survey of current literature and other pertinent articles. It covers the significance of diagrams as well as new research techniques, equipment, data evaluation, nomenclature, presentation and other aspects of phase diagram preparation and use.
