Joshua Lockhart, a junior in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at Texas A&M University, was recently awarded the 2015 Region 5 National Society of Black Engineers (NSBE) Academic Improvement Scholarship.

Lockhart, who is the secretary for the Texas A&M chapter of NSBE, received the award during the NSBE 41st Annual National Convention in Anaheim, California. Lockhart, along with other members of the Texas A&M chapter represented the university at the convention.

The mission of the NSBE is to increase the number of culturally responsible black engineers who excel academically, succeed professionally and positively impact the community.
