Dr. M. Nazmul Karim, head of the Artie McFerrin Department of Chemical Engineering at Texas A&M University and holder of the T. Michael O'Connor Chair II, is participating in a recently funded initiative by the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST).
The project is titled, "Biomanufacturing Science and Technology Consortium to Advance U.S. Manufacturing of Biopharmaceuticals."
Along with the University of Massachusetts Lowell, the primary institution, and several other universities, Karim and his group will research quality control aspects.
The federally funded project will cover a two-year period, drawing upon close to half a million dollars to complete.
