The executive committee of the ASME Applied Mechanics Division has selected Dr. Sevan Goenezen as one of the four Haythornthwaite Research Initiation Grant recipients of $20,000. This program and award is funded by the Haythornthwaite Foundation and targets university faculty engaged in research in theoretical and applied mechanics at the beginning of their academic careers.
Goenezen received his award certificate during the Applied Mechanics Division Honors and Award Banquet at the Palais des Congres, Montreal Convention Center. The outcome of Dr. Goenezen's project titled "Feasibility to Characterize Heterogeneous Subsurface Material Properties from Surface Deformations" will be presented at the IMECE conference 2015 in Houston.
