TailgateThe first all-Aggie Engineering Tailgate is slated for Nov. 15, three hours prior to the kickoff of the Texas A&M vs. Missouri football game. The tailgate, which will feature food, giveaways and a carnival, will be held on the lawn north of the Zachry Engineering Center (indoors if it rains) on the Texas A&M University campus and will be open until 6:30 p.m.

Current and former students, faculty, staff and friends of the engineering program are invited to attend the event, which will be held rain or shine. Plans have been made to move the tailgate inside in the event of inclement weather.

Attendees at the tailgate will have a chance to say farewell to the Zachry Engineering Center, which will close in December for a massive, multi-million dollar renovation and new construction project that begins in January 2015. Attendees are encouraged to leave notes describing their favorite memories and experiences in the facility and will be able to take home a piece of the old Zachry building.

The Zachry Engineering Center opened in 1972. When the renovation and new construction project is completed in 2017, the building will be named the Engineering Education Complex, and at 533,000 square feet, will become the largest academic building on campus. The state-of-the-art building will be used exclusively for undergraduate engineering education to support the 25 by 25 Initiative.
