Image -of -rodney -bowersoxDr. M. Katherine Banks, vice chancellor and dean of engineering, has appointed Dr. Rodney Bowersox holder of the Ford Motor Company Design Professorship I in engineering. The endowed professorship is effective Oct. 1.

Bowersox is the head of the Department of Aerospace Engineering and is director of the Texas A&M University National Aerothermochemistry Laboratory. He earned his Ph.D., master’s and bachelor’s degrees, all from Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University.

Bowersox’s research interests include gasdynamics, aerothermochemistry, high-speed aerodynamics, hypersonics, unsteady aerodynamics, aero-propulsion, turbulence modeling, numerical situations, instrumentation development, and wind tunnel design.
