CSE picnic 2014On Sept. 27, almost 250 computer science and engineering students, faculty, staff and families gathered at Bachmann (Southwood) Pavilion to enjoy a highly successful evening of fun, food and friends. The annual CSE Fall Picnic provides a fun, laid-back environment for fellowship between CSE faculty and students. The CSE Department provided catered J Cody’s dinner and dessert, in addition to activities for all ages. Children played on a bouncy house and playground, while the CSE students enjoyed a little friendly competition with volleyball, Frisbee, and board games.

Each year, the CSE Fall Picnic hosts door prize drawings for a variety of prizes and every attending student and faculty member receives a ticket. Additional door prize tickets were available for purchase to raise money for Phoebe’s Home in Bryan, a Twin City Mission’s DVS Program that provides emergency shelter and aid to victims of domestic violence. The CSEGSA leads this successful fundraiser, raising $162 to aid Phoebe’s Home in helping the victims of domestic violence.

CSEGSA president, Jory Deny, shared his thoughts about the picnic:  “The picnic was a huge success. The turn out from professors and graduate students was beyond my expectation. I think everyone had fun playing sports, conversing, and having a nice meal from J. Cody's.”

We are pleased with the success of the 2014 CSE Fall Picnic and we are looking forward to another enjoyable picnic next year.
