Dr. M. Katherine Banks, vice chancellor and dean of engineering, has appointed Dr. John Hurtado as the senior director for multidisciplinary engineering programs, and Dr. Nancy Amato as the senior director for engineering honors programs. Both appointments are effective Sept. 1.
Amato is the holder of the Unocal Professorship in the Department of Computer Science and Engineering. In her new role, Amato will oversee all aspects of the engineering honors program.
Amato received her master’s in computer science from the University of California at Berkeley in 1988 and her Ph.D. in computer science from University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign in 1995.
Hurtado is an associate professor in the Department of Aerospace Engineering and the associate department head for graduate studies. In his new role, Hurtado will oversee all aspects of the multidisciplinary engineering programs at both the graduate and undergraduate levels.
Hurtado received both his master’s degree and his Ph.D. in aerospace engineering from Texas A&M in 1991 and 1995, respectively.
