CSEGSA Summer Kickoff PicnicThe Computer Science and Engineering Graduate Student Association (CSEGSA) recently hosted the CSEGSA Summer Kickoff Picnic for the Texas A&M Computer Science and Engineering Research Experiences for Undergraduates (REU) Summer 2014 Program. The picnic was the first social event for the summer and was held at Hensel Park.

“The purpose of the event was to welcome the REU students to the department with a fun social event, build community within the department and promote CSEGSA for the REU participants,” said Jory Denny, CSEGSA president.

Approximately 80 people attended the picnic that included activities such as Frisbee, football, soccer, chess, cards and puzzles. Among them were visiting REU students, graduate students and two professors who came to partake in the fun.

“We were thrilled with the turnout and the community-building atmosphere at the event,” said Stephanie Valentine, CSEGSA secretary. “We intend for the CSEGSA Summer Kickoff Picnic to become an Aggieland summer tradition, welcoming new students each summer.”
