Smiths endow scholarship to honor friends Joe and Linda Fowler

Smith PhotographJudy and Glenn Smith recently endowed the Joe ’68 and Linda Fowler Scholarship through the Texas A&M Foundation to honor their longtime friends. The Smiths and Fowlers have been friends for more than 25 years, and they share a passion for philanthropy. They first met while working together with a charity organization in Houston.

“The Look College greatly appreciates the Smiths creating this endowment, especially in honor of two people who continuously give back to the engineering program through contributions and acts of service,” said Andrew Acker, senior director of development with the Foundation.

The Fowlers are committed to enhancing the educational experience for engineering students as demonstrated by their continuous financial support of the Look College. Their most recent contribution was to the Engineering Education Complex, which is slated to begin construction in 2015.

“Linda and Joe epitomize the Aggie spirit of supporting the university by working tirelessly to promote various programs,” said Glenn Smith. “We wanted to demonstrate our appreciation to them by establishing a scholarship in the college of engineering in their honor.”

The Smiths reside in The Woodlands, Texas, where Glenn Smith is the president of Smith Production Inc. Both of their daughters attended and graduated from Texas A&M University.
