Image -of -erick -moreno -centenoDr. Erick Moreno-Centeno, assistant professor in the Department of Industrial and Systems Engineering, has won this year’s award for excellence in teaching operations research from the Institute of Industrial Engineers (IIE) Operations Research Division.  Each year IIE presents a single award for excellence in the teaching of operations research.

To be eligible a nominee must be a member of IIE; the course for which he/she is being recognized must be an undergraduate operations research course within an industrial engineering program; and the candidate must have developed the course materials. The nomination can be made by a colleague or a student who has taken the course from the nominee.

Department head, Cesar Malave, said he was not surprised by Moreno's recognition. "Erick is a very dedicated mentor to his students and approaches his classes with infectious enthusiasm."
