PfisterMike and Dianne Pfister of Katy, Texas have established the Michael ’78 and Dianne ’79 Pfister Scholarship.

The endowment will create one or more scholarships for full-time students pursuing an undergraduate degree in the Department of Computer Science and Engineering.

“Dianne and I realize what an outstanding education our family received at Texas A&M University,” Mike Pfister said. “We wanted to share that opportunity with others.”

The scholarship will be awarded annually and preference will be given to applicants that are members of Young Life. The Pfister family has participated in Young Life for many years.

Young Life is a non-denominational Christian ministry committed to making a positive difference in the lives of kids through the friendship and influence of caring adults.

“Our family’s participation with Young Life means a great deal to us,” Mike Pfister said. “We believe the principles of Young Life provide a foundation for success that would be beneficial to a college career.”

ConocoPhillips, Mike Pfister’s employer, contributed to the scholarship through its matching gifts program; he is the company’s chief information officer.

Mike earned his bachelor’s in computer science in 1978 and Dianne received her bachelor’s degree in 1979 in physical education. The couple have three children, all graduates of Texas A&M: Lauren Pfister Huff ’07, sports management; Matt ’11, industrial distribution and Kendall ’13, management information systems and business honors.
